STAGE TECHNICIAN MODERN APPRENTICESHIP (Subject to SQA approval)
F/T - 35hrs
We are looking for a Stage Technician to complement our existing technical team. You will be involved in the day-to-day work of the Technical Department, assisting with the technical aspects of putting on shows and events at Eden Court, including assisting visiting companies, preparing and maintaining the stage areas, and providing technical support during shows.
Eden Court is a receiving house and its visiting companies, which include both professional and amateur groups, look to us for expertise and advice in managing the technical aspects of their shows. Tact and diplomacy is necessary in dealing with these companies. Eden Court prides itself in providing a consistently high quality technical service to visiting companies, and as part of the technical team you will have an important role in ensuring that this quality of service is maintained.
The post is offered as a modern apprenticeship, in partnership with the University of the Highlands and Islands, Inverness College and leads to a qualification at SVQ level 3. It is available to young people within the age ranges 18 to 19 and 20 to 24 and this includes someone who will become 18 during January 2017. Please note that we are unable to offer this post to anyone younger than this because of restrictions on the times of day that such young people are allowed to work.
We welcome applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate a strong interest in the theatre and in live performance (e.g. drama, dance etc.) and a commitment to developing a career in the theatre. For example you may have gained some experience of performing or being involved in a ‘back stage’ role, perhaps in an informal setting, such as school or college, or in a community venue.
