Britain's best-loved rockers Status Quo will perform at 2010's first major concert of the year in the Highlands.

Caledonian Productions Ltd will host the event in Inverness on 1 May 2010.

Crowds of 20,000 will attend on each day of the two-day festival at Bogbain Farm, on the outskirts of the Highland capital,

And they can expect a surprise the next day with another great name to be announced for the second night.

Tobias Leask, director of Caledonian Productions, said: "This will be the biggest day in the Highlands for years.

"To have Status Quo coming here is amazing - and it's all in aid of a great cause."

Cash raised at the event will go towards Highlands Hospice, who care for hundreds of people each year.

Tobias said: "We believe this will be the biggest open air concert in the Highlands.

"This will be the first of its kind in the Highlands. It will be a fantastic event, which will continue for years to come, raising cash for a host of local charities."

Status Quo are still hugely in demand act, and are a live music institution.

Their last album "Pictures: 40 Years Of Hits" sold over quarter of a million copies in the UK alone last year and was accordingly been certified Gold.

The band can't wait to perform for the fans that helped them reach this milestone.

The "Pictures" album became the band's 37th chart album and also their 29th to reach the Top Twenty - and that statistic puts them ahead of The Beatles.

Quo now stand in the silver medal position on the all-time table [with only those Rolling Stones ahead of them].

The show in Inverness represents a great opportunity to witness one of the world's greatest ever live acts doing what they do best.

Francis Rossi commented: "Playing to our fans is still and has always been the most important thing for the band.

"Nothing beats playing live and we always look forward to performing to a lively Scottish crowd".

Britain's greatest rock n roll band are still going strong - don't bet against them celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2015!

Tickets go on sale at 9am on 18 December 2009 and are available online at www.iristickets.co.uk or can be bought locally. Tickets are priced from £45 [booking fees may apply].

Tickets for the first day of the festival are £45, with the second day £55. A two-day ticket will cost £90.
