Inverness Book Festival 2013

Maria Anderson is a Senior Charge Midwife on the delivery suite at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Working on the frontline of NHS maternity care for over twenty years, Maria has experienced all the ups and downs of midwifery.
Maria’s memoir, Tales of a Midwife is a warm and poignant account of her career and the impact it has had on her life. From frantic fathers and traumatic home births, to witnessing the delivery of quads and the ultimate devastation of assisting the delivery of a stillborn baby, Maria has seen it all.
The popularity of Channel 4’s documentary One Born Every Minute and BBC’s drama series Call The Midwife highlights our fascination with the emotional and life-changing experience of giving birth. This is the captivating story of one woman’s devotion to delivering new life.
